Members of the Quartet
Shared Foundations and Successes
The quartet was founded in 2001 by the four members who are still active today. This artistic collaboration, spanning two decades with an unchanged lineup, is a rarity in the world of chamber music. Their musical philosophy was shaped by their shared international studies: they earned master’s degrees as a quartet in Madrid (Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía) and at the Basel Academy of Music. Their masters included the greatest legends of the genre: Walter Levin (LaSalle Quartet), Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartet), and members of the Amadeus, Alban Berg, and Bartók Quartets.
Theatre and Interdisciplinary Arts
In addition to concert halls, the ensemble is also comfortable in the world of theatre, and experimenting with interdisciplinary arts is an integral part of their profile. They participated in the legendary Balázs Kovalik-directed performance of Boris Godunov (Örkény Theatre), where they shared the stage with great actors, as well as Péter Esterházy’s play, Haydn’s Skull, at the Bárka Theatre. They have a close creative relationship with choreographer-director Krisztián Gergye (National Dance Theatre, Gárdonyi Géza Theatre), and have also collaborated with the Budapest Puppet Theatre and the world-famous BANDALOOP company on music by Gabriel Prokofiev.
Achievements and Background
The ensemble belongs to the elite of the Hungarian music scene: they received the Junior Prima Award in 2010, the Artisjus Award in 2006, and won the Johannes Brahms International Competition in 2009. The Hungarian State has been supporting the quartet with master instruments (two violins and one cello) since 2005.
In the world of chamber music, permanence is a special value: the Accord Quartet has been performing with an unchanged lineup for over two decades since its founding.
Péter Mező
violin
Studies and Masters
He acquired his musical foundations at the Jenő Hubay Music School and the Béla Bartók Conservatory. He graduated from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in 2006 as a student of Eszter Perényi and Géza Kapás. He is currently a DLA student at the Doctoral School of the University of Pécs.
Professional Career
In addition to chamber music, orchestral playing and leadership play a central role in his life. He has been the Concertmaster of the Danubia Orchestra Óbuda since 2014 and a member of the Danish Chamber Orchestra since 2019. Working directly with legendary composers is a defining experience in his artistic career: he regularly collaborated with Péter Eötvös, György Kurtág, as well as Helmut Lachenmann and Fabián Panisello.
Education and Projects
A dedicated educator, he was a chamber music teacher at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music for a decade, and has been holding masterclasses in the United States since 2013. He is a committed advocate for popularizing classical music: he is the creator of the BachElit series. Since 2005, he has played a Hungarian state-owned Italian master violin.
Csongor Veér

Dynasty and Studies
He comes from a family of musicians: his father was a soloist for the Budapest Radio Symphony Orchestra, and his mother was a violin teacher. He graduated from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in 2008 in the class of Géza Kapás.
Professional Versatility
Since 2011, he has been the artistic director of the Budapest Chamber Sinfonietta. He also plays a leading role in the world of film music: since 2016, he has been a soloist, concertmaster, and conductor for Budapest Scoring. In this capacity, he directs recordings and plays violin solos in the largest international productions, from Hollywood blockbusters to streaming service series.
Theatre and Crossover
He passionately explores the intersection of art forms. For years, he was a key musical collaborator in the performances of the legendary Béla Pintér and his Company (e.g., The 42nd Week, Gyevuska), as well as the Örkény Theatre productions (Tóték). He is a founding member of the Eszter-lánc children’s music group and the Trio National formation.
Péter Kondor

Studies and Masters
He began his musical journey with the violin at the age of six, before switching to the viola during his conservatory years in Győr and Budapest. He earned his advanced degree at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music as a student of Géza Németh.
Orchestral Career
His career is marked by the highest positions in the Hungarian music scene. From 2016 to 2023, he was the Principal Viola of the Hungarian State Opera. Subsequently, he joined the world-renowned Liszt Ferenc Chamber Orchestra, where he currently serves as Principal Viola.
As Soloist and Chamber Musician
Already during his studies, he achieved top rankings in the National Viola Competition. His playing is characterized by precision, rich tone, and outstanding leadership skills, making the viola section a solid pillar of the quartet’s sound.
Mátyás Ölveti

Studies and Masters
Born in Debrecen, he was a student of László Papp at the Zoltán Kodály Music Secondary School. He graduated from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in the class of Csaba Onczay, further refining his knowledge in masterclasses with László Mező and Joseph Podhoranski. Between 2014 and 2020, he was a cello teacher at the University of Debrecen.
Hollywood and Film Scoring
In addition to classical music, he is a leading performer in the international film scoring world. Since 2022, he has been the Principal Cello for Budapest Scoring. Under his leadership, the cello parts for the successful Netflix series Wednesday and Luc Besson’s films were recorded. He is an active participant in projects by Hans Zimmer and Danny Elfman.
Theatre and Vocals
His versatility is demonstrated by his comfort in interdisciplinary arts. In 1995, he won an international vocal competition in the USA in the solo category. He was a regular performer in the Örkény Theatre productions, as well as the contemporary dance theatre performances of Gábor Goda (Artus) and Krisztián Gergye.
